Mr. Walter Ray Posey, Jr., a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born November 27, 1945, in Tallassee, Alabama, to Walter Ray, Sr. and Louise Stanfield Posey.

Mr. Posey is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Frieda Posey; sons, Walter R. Posey, III and Robert Banton (Lori); daughter, Julie Agan (Danny); siblings, Libby Siskron (Tom), Linda Holt (James), Tim Posey (Gail) and Ethel Hale (Don); grandchildren, Betsy Posey, Milly Posey, Emily Banton, Anna Agan and Joe Agan; great granddaughters, Ellie Blake Szumlanski and Katherine Rae Kyser and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Ray, Sr. and Louise Posey and his beloved niece, Angela Holt Falkner.

Walter worked for over 30 years as a Catastrophe Insurance Adjuster, working the aftermath of Hurricanes Andrew, Hugo, and Katrina. He proudly served his country in the Alabama Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He loved fishing in the Tallapoosa River, tailgating with friends at Auburn football games, and cheering on the Auburn Tigers baseball team as a season ticket holder. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his large extended family.

The family will receive friends at Christchurch, 8800 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, Alabama, Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 1:00PM to 1:45PM with the service at 2:00PM. The Rev. Cn. Andrew Rowell will be officiating. A private interment will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
