Waldtraut “Vickie” Heidt Lee, a cherished member of Salem Macon Baptist Church for more than fifty-one plus years, passed away on May 20, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on April 22, 1935, in Fussgasse Nieder-Morten, Germany, Vickie lived a life marked by devotion, creativity, and enduring love.
For 56 years, she was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Willie Frank Lee, Sr., whose memory she now joins in eternal rest along with that of their sons, Willie Frank Lee, Jr. and Alan Wayne Lee. Vickie was also predeceased by her parents, Friedrich and Maria Heidt. Her journey, deeply rooted in faith and family, reflected the values instilled from childhood and nurtured through a lifetime of community involvement and personal passion.
Vickie was known for her love of flowers, which brightened not only her home but also the lives of those around her. She brought joy through her remarkable skill in baking, especially wedding and birthday cakes that became a centerpiece for many family celebrations, symbolizing her tender care and artistic touch.
Her devotion to Salem Macon Baptist Church spanned 51 years, during which she was a constant presence, a source of comfort, and a shining example of faithfulness. The church community was her extended family, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and supported many through her warm spirit.
Vickie’s surviving family includes her granddaughter Angela Hall, and her husband Anthony; her grandson Thomas Lee; her great-grandchildren Michael Hall and his wife Madison, and Harley Lee; and her great-great-grandchildren Serenity Hall, Oakley Hall, Jasmine Busha, and Gracie Lee. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews residing in Germany.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Macon Baptist Church, located at 4647 Tallapoosa Street in Notasulga, Alabama. Burial will follow at Salem Macon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Vickie’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and grace. Her gentle presence and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy enriched by faith, family, and the simple joys that she so lovingly shared.
