Ronald David Lumpkin, born on March 3, 1972, in Opelika, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. He was a man whose love for life and lively spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Known for his mischievous sense of humor, Ronald was always playing pranks on those around him, bringing laughter and joy to family and friends alike. A proud enthusiast of S-10 pick-up trucks, he had a deep connection with the outdoors, spending much of his time hunting, fishing, and reveling in the beauty of woods and wildlife. His profound affection for the outdoor world extended to all creatures within it, reflecting a gentle and compassionate soul.
Ronald’s role as PawPaw was dear to his heart, as he cherished every moment spent with his beloved grandchildren: Miley Lumpkin, Tinsley Lumpkin, and Harper Kate Reed. He leaves behind a devoted family that includes his daughter, Brittany Lumpkin, and his son, Ron Lumpkin, along with Ron’s wife, Ashley. His brother, Joe Lumpkin and Mona, his sister, Alice Hawkins, and his nieces and nephews—C.J. Hawkins and Megan, Eve Hawkins, Madison Freeman and Kaleb, and Dylan Hawkins, cousin, Jeremy Lumpkin, and friends, Adam Vann and Worm Lacey —also mourn the loss of a treasured relative.
He is preceded in death by Mr. Billy Joe and Mrs. Betty Lumpkin, his sisters, Teresa Williams and Ann Lumpkin, his brother, Dub Hawkins, and his nephew and best friend, Billy Joe Lumpkin.
The community will have the opportunity to honor and remember Ronald Friday, May 29, 2026, at Jeffcoat Trant Funeral Home in Opelika, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until service time at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Garden Hill Cemetery, Opelika, Alabama.
Ronald Lumpkin’s memory will live on through the stories shared by those who loved him, the laughter he inspired, and the love he so freely gave to his family, especially his grandchildren. His connection to the natural world and his lively spirit remain a testimony to a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
