Rita Mcmurphy Gray

Mrs. Rita McMurphy Gray, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the age of 79. She was born February 10, 1945, in Pensacola, Florida, to Clifford Vaston and Genevieve Thomas McMurphy.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Shanks, Jr., Fort Mill, South Carolina, Teresa Shanks Segrest, Tallassee, Alabama, James Ray Talley, Jr. (Laura), Shorter, Alabama; grandchildren, Hannah Segrest Rogers (Seth), Eclectic, Alabama, Mariah Waites, Pike Road, Alabama, Hunter Talley, Montgomery, Alabama and Jamie Segrest, Tallassee, Alabama; great grandchildren, Skylar Segrest, Brantley Rogers and Minna Rae Waites; siblings, Cliff McMurphy (Linda), Byram, Mississippi, Allie Carpenter (Gary), Deary, Idaho, Michael McMurphy (Colleene), Winnsboro, Texas and Mollie McMurphy, Byram, Mississippi and beloved neighbors, Amanda and Jody Harper.

Mrs. Gray passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
