Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 04, 2017, at 11:00AM from Rose Hill Cemetery, Tallassee, Alabama, with Rev. Neil Epler officiating, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Patricia Patterson Baker; children, Richard L. Baker, III (Terry) of Montgomery, Alabama, Teresa Daigle (Ronald) of Durham, Maine and David C. Baker (Holli) of Auburn, Alabama; six grandchildren, Angela Baker, Monica Baker, Brittany Baker, Nevada Daigle, Abigail Baker and Celia Baker and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard L. and Annie Bell Baker. Mr. Baker graduated from Tallassee High School in 1950 and played football and baseball for J.E. “Hot” O’Brien. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a Director of Montgomery Work Release and retired from the Alabama Department of Corrections. Mr. Baker was a life member of the Marine Corp League and a member of Alabama Sixty Plus Golf Association with 3 holes in one. He also was a longtime member of Frazer United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Montgomery Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
