Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mr. Jimmie Lee Pemberton, Jr., a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the age of 91. He was born August 1, 1926 Funeral services will be held at Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Jimmie’s brother, Rev. Robert Pemberton and Rev. Derek Gentle will be officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. Mr. Pemberton is survived by one daughter, Judy Ballentine; son-in-law, Jimmy Ballentine; grandson, Brad Ballentine; one brother, Robert Pemberton (Evelyn); one step-daughter, Loretta Thornhill Lusk; three step-sons, Luther, George, and Robert Thornhill and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Katherine Powell Pemberton, and his wife of 10 years, Ann Thornhill Pemberton; parents Jimmie Lee Pemberton, Sr. and Effie Pemberton; three sisters, Betty Barker, Mary Frances Daniel, Myrtle Ruth Mason; and brother, Charles (Boodie) Pemberton. Jimmie is a retired Southern Baptist pastor, serving churches from 1957 until his retirement. He and his wife, Katherine, were charter members of Carrville Baptist Church and helped start the mission and build the original church. He was ordained to preach at Carrville Baptist Church in October of 1957 and was called to serve his first pastorate at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Eclectic, Alabama the same year. He was a WWII Army Veteran and served in Japan. He is retired from the Coca Cola Company after 30 years of employment. The family would like to say “Thank You” to the Hospice nurses and staff members who were so good to care for him during the last weeks of his journey on earth and his physician, Dr. Melvin Russell.
