Ealy Ray Baker, a devoted husband, father, and longtime member of the Tallassee community, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026. Born on December 11, 1946, in Tallassee, Alabama, Ray lived a life marked by steadfast dedication to his family, his faith, and his career.

Mr. Baker’s professional journey was distinguished by over forty years of service with Alabama Power, where he was known for his commitment and work ethic. Beyond his profession, Ray was a faithful member of Providence Primitive Baptist Church, where he found spiritual fulfillment and community.

Ray was a man who cherished the simple joys of life. He loved fishing, found enthusiasm in cheering for the Auburn Tigers and listening to the Auburn University Marching Band. He took great delight in watching his grandchildren play ball—moments that brought him immense happiness and pride.

His proudest accomplishments were being a faithful husband and a loving father and grandfather. He leaves behind a beloved wife, Vicki Oliver Baker, whose partnership was a source of strength and love throughout his life. Together with his former wife Karen, he and Vicki raised a close-knit family that carries forward his legacy.

Surviving him are his four children: Amy Jeter (Chuck), Ken Baker, Arthur Oliver, and Jennifer Whittington (Chris). As a testament to his love for his family, Ray lovingly served as a father figure to his brother Andy’s children, Jeff and Lisa.

Ray’s family circle also includes his cherished grandchildren—Ashton Baker, Ashley Jeter (Andria), Quinton Jeter (Kristen), Beau Baker, Eli Whittington, and Abram Whittington—as well as several great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Frances Baker, and his brother, Andy Baker, whose memories remain dear to the family.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Primitive Baptist Church, located on Chana Creek Road in Tallassee, Alabama. The burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall following the service at the cemetery.
