Peggy Ann Meadows, cherished mother, grandmother and treasured member of the Tallassee community, passed away on July 14, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on June 4, 1934, in Tallassee, Peggy’s life was one marked by devotion to family, a passion for her community, and steadfast faith.
Peggy’s roots ran deep in Tallassee, where she shared a close bond with her mother, Ms. Vesta. Together, they owned and operated Hornsby's Florist for over 25 years, bringing beauty and warmth to countless occasions in the lives of their neighbors and friends. Peggy's love for flowers and her keen eye for design echoed through her work as an accomplished decorator, a talent she expressed both in business and at home.
After the floral shop, Peggy continued her industriousness by dedicating her talents to Neptune Technology Group, from which she would eventually retire. Yet Peggy’s retirement never meant a slowing down of spirit. She directed her hands and heart toward gardening and outdoor work, delighting in nature's cycles. Her knack for decorating and her love of beauty made her home a haven for family and friends alike, while her voice, lifted in joyful song, resonated in the hearts of those who heard her.
Peggy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a longtime member of East Tallassee Baptist Church, she found strength and inspiration in her community, always ready with an encouraging word and genuine smile. Her voice was often heard in song, as she loved to sing and lifted many spirits through music.
The joys of Peggy’s life were multiplied by her treasured family. She is survived by her loving son, Mike Meadows; her devoted daughters, Sally Meadows (Terri) and Hope Wallace; and her adored grandchildren, Jordan Lawford (Kevin), Thomas Meadows (Nichole), Houston Launius (Madison), Zack Launius and great-grandchildren, Gage Bone, Stella Bone, Harper Meadows and Lucy and June Launius. Each carries forward her kindness, wisdom, and love of family.
Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-five years, James “Moose” Meadows, who was her partner in life and spirit; and by her dear parents, Otis and Vesta Mann Leonard. The legacy they shared remains a guiding light for all who knew them.
Peggy enjoyed nothing more than being outdoors, tending to her garden, and nurturing the beauty of nature around her. Her gentle soul and joyful presence touched many lives, both quietly and profoundly. She will be remembered for her generosity, her unwavering faith, and the love she so freely gave.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Peggy’s life at Jeffcoat Funeral Home in Tallassee, Alabama. A visitation will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, from 10:00AM until service time at 11:00AM, Rev. Brandon Fomby officiating. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery.
While words can only imperfectly capture the essence of Peggy Meadows, she is remembered for a life abounding in warmth and grace—a floral legacy in Tallassee, Alabama.
