Mrs. Sara Simmons North

Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mrs. Sara Simmons North, a resident of Notasulga, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 01, 2012, at the age of 92. For the past several years she has been residing at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 04, 2012, from Salem-Macon Baptist Church at 2:00pm, with Rev. Bobby Carpenter and Rev. Mike Stephens officiating, burial to follow in Union Methodist Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. She is survived by her brothers, Clester Simmons of Notasulga and Charles (Nora) Simmons of Tallassee; sister-in-law, Myrtle Simmons of Opelika and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. North is preceded in death by her husband, Henry D. North; parents Herman and Ruth Walker Simmons, brothers; Virnard Simmons and R. T. Simmons; sisters, Virgil Boulware, Mary Emma Adcox, Ola Ruth Mask, Tempie Ella Simmons and infant baby girl Simmons. Sara was born on March 14, 1920 in Tallapoosa County. She was married to Henry Devere North in 1946 and lived in Michigan before moving to Notasulga in 1989. She attended and was member of Salem-Macon Baptist Church in Notasulga. Sara served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was life time member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans. The family will receive friends Friday, August 03, 2012 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, from Jeffcoat Funeral Home.
