Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mrs. Ruby Jones Stearns, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at the age of 91. She was born on August 21, 1923. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11:00 am from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dric Williford officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. She is survived by her two daughters; Carole Ann Fowler (Jack) of Auburn Al, and Nancy Kirby (Ray) of Lake Martin, Al; two sons, Larry M. Stearns (Julie) of Tallassee, AL and David A. Stearns (Cyndi), of Lake Martin, AL; six grandchildren, Cammy Mahan Poe of Lakeland, FL, Kim Kirby Campbell (Vince) of Cumming, GA, Karen Kirby Douglass (Chad) of Maylene, AL, Shannon Stearns, Rhiannon Stearns, and Laken Stearns of Tallassee, AL; six great-grandchildren and a brother, Donald L. Jones (Joan) of Tallassee, AL. Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Early and Dollie Waites Jones; three brothers, James Jones, Luther Earl Jones, and Clarence Jones, Jr. and one sister, Sarah Jones Melton. She had many friends throughout her life and will be remembered for her friendly manner, her warm smile and her love of dancing. Also noteworthy, was her hard work to support her children and her caring for family, friends and neighbors. She worked for the majority of her life as a seamstress in small town manufacturing businesses, retiring at age 78, when clothing manufacturing was moved overseas. The family expresses its appreciation for the loving care provided by the Tallassee Health and Rehabilitation staff and Community Hospice Care.
