Coan, born December 5, 1919, in Tallassee, Alabama, peacefully departed this earth for her heavenly home on Friday, March 9, 2012, in Auburn, Alabama. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 2:30pm from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Wilbur Bass officiating. Burial will follow in Reeltown Cemetery, next to Reeltown High School, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Coan is survived by her daughter-in-law, Deryel “Boodie” Burton of Auburn; great-granddaughters, Brittany McQueen and Hallie Burton and four great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother and father; three brothers; husband, Judge Coan; son, Hal Lanier “Buddy” Burton; grandson, Scott Burton; stepson, Judge “Buddy” Coan and stepdaughter, Lee Coan Hecht. Myrtice was employed by Mt. Vernon Mills in Tallassee for over 50 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tallassee. She was a resident of Tallassee until she moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama, to live with her son and daughter-in-law. She moved to Auburn two years ago. Mrs. Coan was known for her sunny disposition and her ability to always see the best in people and situations. She will be missed by those who loved her. Visitation will be from 2:00pm until service time on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Jeffcoat Funeral Home in Tallassee.
