Margie Oliver, known with great affection to all her family and friends as “Ma” was a champion of nature, civil rights and most of all, family. She always took great pleasure in her faith and devotion to the Lord, who’s continual care and presence saw her through many difficult times. Ma spent her entire life with her hands in the dirt, selflessly giving her beautiful flowers to church, weddings, parties, the ill and friends. After her husband’s death in 1963, Margie singlehandedly raised her three children, what we might call a “true working mother.” We, as a family, will miss her greatly – her heart, her strong hands, will and nerves of steel. Every blossom that grows, every sunrise and sunset, every tree that drops a pecan or sprouts a leaf, will always be a tender reminder of her love and remarkable life.
