Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mrs. Jo Marion Bentley, 85, a resident of Opelika, Alabama, and formerly of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away at her home Sunday, April 15, 2012, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at 11:00am at First Baptist Church Opelika with Rev. Steve Scoggins, Rev. Don Johnson and Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Hills Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home of Tallassee and Opelika directing. Mrs. Bentley was born March 20, 1927, in Jefferson County and she was an Auburn University Alumni. Mrs. Bentley was a member of First Baptist Church Opelika, Sara Sunday School Class, Sunshine Choir and Women’s Missions. She was a retired teacher and loved to work in her garden. She taught school in Tallassee and Wetumpka, and was a Pastor’s wife during Dr. Bentley’s Ministry career. Mrs. Bentley is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. David H. Bentley of Opelika; daughter, Deborah Lindsey and husband Danny Lindsey; sister, Laura Lee Gilliland and husband Grover “Mickey” Gilliland; brothers, Joseph W. Griffin and wife Barbara Griffin and George Griffin; grandson, Daniel Matthew Lindsey and wife Brittany Freeman Lindsey and granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Lindsey. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 9:30am until service time at First Baptist Church Opelika.
