Taunton, age 93, of Tallassee, Alabama, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Community Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 19, 2011, at 11:00am from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Bachant officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.Doris is survived by her daughters, LouAnn Tatum of Tallassee, Betty Morgan (Walter Lee) of Camp Hill, Alabama, and Ruby James of Tallassee; son, Freddie Taunton (Susan) of Hamilton, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; sisters, Odessa Lashley and Mary Boddie, both of Camp Hill, Alabama; brother, Earnest Stroud of Tallassee; sisters-in-law, Lucille Taunton, Sybil Stroud, Annie Ruth Stroud and a host of nieces and nephews.Mrs. Taunton is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Mr. Lee Alton Taunton; twin sons, Ronald and Donald Taunton; parents, William T. and Essie Stroud; a grandson, three brothers and two sisters.Memorial contributions may be made to Pentecost United Methodist Church, 711 Willow Street, Tallassee, Alabama 36078.The family will receive friends on Friday evening, February 18, 2011, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home.
