She was born in Tallassee, Alabama, and her parents were the late George Arnold Welden and Mary Ellen (Welden) Bryan. Her late stepfather was Richard F. Bryan, also a former resident of Tallassee.Diane was born August 07, 1944, and went to the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ after a 14 year battle with cancer.Until her retirement in 2008, she promoted tourism internationally for southwest Florida. Her enthusiastic nature, humor and kindness made her a natural for the business.As a result, she gained many friends in multiple time zones and countries. She was passionate about people, never met a stranger and loved to entertain. She kept friends for a lifetime, deeply loved all of her family and was truly unforgettable.Diane is survived by her husband, Jerry W. Short; daughter, Renae (Short) Seiler and husband, Curt; son, Cliff Short; grandsons, Nathaniel and Jarrett Seiler andsisters, Rhonda Rogers (Darsie) and Bettie Welden.Funeral services will be Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 1:00pm from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel, Tallasssee, with Dr. David Bentley officiating.
