Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mrs. Alice Newman Smith, age 87, a resident of Reeltown, Alabama, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015, at Arbor Springs Nursing Home in Opelika, Alabama. She was born February 21, 1928, in Reeltown, Alabama. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 01, 2015, at 2:30pm at First Baptist Church of Reeltown with Rev. Rick Dorley officiating. Mrs. Smith will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Reeltown Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Jack Smith (Judy) of Reeltown, Alabama, Jay Smith (Elaine) of Auburn, Alabama, and Joel Smith of Reeltown, Alabama; daughters, Angie Harper (Charlie) of Tallassee, Alabama, Audrey Hollis (Chris) of Opelika, Alabama, Sara Muncher (Terry) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, and Jinnene Massey (Justin) of Riverside, Alabama; grandchildren, Jonathan and Jessica Smith, Calvin Smith, Courtney, Jackson and Allison Smith, Candace Scroggins (Shane), Carmen Harper, Will, Riley and Rebekah Muncher, and Corey and Kelsey Massey; brother, Willie Lee Newman (Claire); sister-in-law, Dorothy Newman; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James O. Smith; son, Jerry Timothy Smith and brother, Fred Newman. Mrs. Smith was a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a 1947 graduate of Reeltown High School and a 1948 graduate of Draughons Business College in Birmingham, Alabama. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home.
