Mr. Rick Carnley

Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 On Sunday, July 14, 2013, Mr. Rick Carnley, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children in Palm Harbor, Florida. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 2:00pm at Bethlehem East Baptist Church in Tallassee, Alabama, with Elder Marvin Paulk and Mr. Larry Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem East Baptist Church Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until service time at the church. Rick was born in Montgomery, Alabama, to Harvey and Myrtice Carnley. He attended Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery and Alex City Junior College. He met and married Ellen Abrams in December, 1969. Rick and Ellen shared 43 years of life, laughter and love. Rick was a dedicated father to two children, Christy and Scott. He was well-loved and respected by family, friends and colleagues. Rick was highly respected in his role as Assistant Director of General Services and Emergency Manager for the City of Clearwater, Florida. Rick was active in the community by participating in local events in both an official and unofficial capacity as well as speaking to local groups on hurricane preparedness. In his personal time, he enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and riding Harleys with his wife and friends. Mr. Carnley is predeceased by his father, Harvey Carnley. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ellen of Palm Harbor, FL; daughter, Christy of Clearwater, FL; son, Scott of Charleston, SC; mother, Myrtice Carnley of Prattville, AL; sister, Tessa McCord of Prattville, AL; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Memorial contributions may be made to Suncoast Hospice Care Center of Palm Harbor, FL or to the American Cancer Society.
