Funeral services will be Monday, May 16, 2011, at 1:00pm from Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Stabler and Rev. Herman Knapp officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Kathryn Mathis Dennis; son, Steven Dennis (Shelia); daughters, Rebecca Gregory (Dudley), Jan Miller (Ray) and Vicky Lackey; grandchildren, Lisa King (James), Scott Miller (Shania), Robin Swicord (Scott), Chris Lackey (Wendy), Ashley Easterwood (Kris) and Shan McCord (Matt); great grandchildren, Jacob Barr, Mary Kate Lackey, Andrew Gray, Brandon Easterwood, Regan Easterwood, Reid Swicord, Riley Swicord, Zack McCord, Dillan McCord and Christopher Chandler. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, R. R. Dennis, Sr. and Roena Dennis and his sister, Frances Coker.The family would like to express a special note of appreciation to Mr. Denniss caregivers, Cortez Williams, Chiquita Crayton, Martha Thornell and Shirley Turner.Mr. Dennis served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II.He was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills in Tallassee for over 45 years; however, he was truly a farmer at heart. Mr. Dennis was a Mason and served as a deacon in the Friendship Baptist Church for many years.The family will receive friends Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home.
