Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 / Fax (334) 283-1167 Ralph Edwin “Pete” Hale, born April 23, 1930, in Tallassee, Alabama, died at the age of 82 on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Russell Medical Center after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 11:00 am from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Derek Gentle of First Baptist Church of Tallassee officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Donald Edwin Hale (Ethel); one granddaughter, Emily Ann Hale Taylor (Jeff); two grandsons, Edwin “Tyler” Hale (Christy) and William Andrew Hale (Lori); six great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Franklin Hale (Patsy); two sisters-in-law, Anne Hale and Isabell Burt and a large number of nieces and nephews. Pete, as he was most commonly known, is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nellie 'Ruth' Burt Hale; his parents, Andrew Jackson and Arrie Coleman Hale; two sisters, Montez Hale Gregory and Emyline Hale Barker; three brothers, Dorsey Jackson Hale, James Louis Hale and Harold Loyd Hale. Pete was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army on Okinawa during the Korean Conflict. For 35 years, he worked as a “fixer” and supervisor for Mount Vernon Mills and with the City of Tallassee as a supervisor for 21 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Baraca Class. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Tallassee, Alabama. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 18, 2012, from 9:30 am until service time at Jeffcoat Funeral Home.
