Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mr. Oliver Wendell Weldon, Jr., a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, went to walk the heavenly streets of gold on Friday, June 21, 2019, at the age of 86. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 23, 2019, at 2:00 PM from First Baptist Church of Tallassee with Rev. Derek Gentle officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. Mr. Weldon is survived by his son, Jeffrey Brent Weldon (Beverly); daughter, Robin Raiford (Gary Warren); grandchildren, Caleb Weldon, Courtney Jackson, B.J. Goodman and Cody Goodman; brothers, Jerol Weldon (Debra) and Billy Weldon (Beverly), sisters-in-law Bernella Weldon (PID by Joe Henry) Pemberton (Charles) and Martha Weldon (PID by James) and several nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Norma Joy DeLoit Weldon, his parents, Oliver Wendell and Marie Galloway Weldon; brothers, Joe Henry Weldon and James Weldon; and son-in-law, Joseph Raiford. Mr. Weldon was a beloved husband and father and a friend to many. He was a Korean War Veteran and was a building contractor in Elmore, Lee, Macon and Tallapoosa counties. He was a longtime member of the Baraca Men’s Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Tallassee, and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Tallaweka Baptist Church, Red Hill Baptist Church and Bethlehem East Baptist Church. A special thank you is extended to the caring staff at Tallassee Health and Rehab. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00PM until service time.
