Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mr. John M. “Mutt” Taunton, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Friday, December 01, 2017, at the age of 90. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 04, 2017, at 1:00 PM from East Tallassee United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dan Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Arie Taunton; children, Cindy Woodall (Jay), Alan Taunton (Gayle), Jim Atkins (Londa), Joe Atkins (Brenda), Jon Atkins (Penny) and Jan Smith (Jamie); two sisters, Dot Teel and Snow Woodruff; brother, Don Taunton (Myrtle) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Taunton; son, Larry Taunton; parents Pat and Minnie Taunton; granddaughter, Jennifer Taunton; two sisters, Jim Payne and Laverne Taylor and two brothers Buddy Taunton and Mack Taunton. Johnny was a faithful member of the East Tallassee United Methodist Church. He worked his entire adult life at Mt. Vernon Mills in Tallassee. The family will receive friends Monday, December 04, from 12:00PM until service time, at East Tallassee United Methodist Church.
