He died in Valparaiso, Indiana, on January 15, 2011.Mr. Valenti is survived by his children, Tim (wife Paola) of Burlington, NC, Corky (wife Joanne) of Scotch Plains, NJ, Gerry of Lagos, Nigeria, Celeste Gill (husband Jerry) of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Lisa, Amy, Michelle, Shannon, Tim, Erin, Marissa and Sophia; great grandchildren, Austin and Tyniya and numerous nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elaine Dean (a native of Tallassee); parents, Frank and Teresa Valenti; brothers, Anthony and John and sister, Jeanne.Mr. Valenti grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from City College of New York. He was a veteran of World War II in the U. S. Army Air Corps and later joined the Air Force Reserve and retired as Lt. Colonel. He received a Masters Degree from Auburn University and earned his PhD in Educational Administration from the University of Chicago. Jasper served for two years with the Public Administration in Bangkok, Thailand, and later retired as Dean of the School of Education at Loyola University. Mr. Valenti was a devout member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Tallassee, and was actively involved in numerous church sponsored charitable activities. He was truly a kind and gentle soul and will be remembered with enormous affection by his family,in-laws and the countless friends he made around the world.Funeral services will be Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 10:00am from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Tallassee, Alabama. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with full military honors, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.The family will receive friends at St. Vincent de Paul Parish Hall on Saturday, one hour prior to services.
