AL ARNG Edd L. “Buddy” Emfinger, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Monday, June 03, 2013, at the Elmore County Community Hospital, at the age of 83. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 05, 2013, at 2:00pm from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Toby Quinn of Nashville, Tennessee and Rev. David Hooks of Tallassee, Alabama officiating. The soloist will be Mrs. Missy Morgan of Montgomery, Alabama. Burial will follow in Carrville Cemetery, with Full Military Honors. Mr. Emfinger is survived by his daughters, Mona Funderburk (David) of Tallassee, Alabama and Pam Williams (Jim) of Montgomery, Alabama; three grandchildren, Daphne Davis (Jeff) of Tallassee, Alabama, Travis Taylor (Lisa) of Montgomery, Alabama and Deric Taylor (Leah) of Loxley, Alabama; seven great grandchildren, Harper Elizabeth Davis, Mary Emily Taylor, Payton Elizabeth Taylor, Allie Claire Taylor, Deric Lane Taylor, II, Jeb Carlson Taylor and Jack Ryland Taylor; special companion and friend, Mrs. Sarah T. Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Peggy Sue (Mama Peg) Emfinger; parents, Leonard and Maggie T. Emfinger and two sisters, Bonnie Jean and JoAnn. Buddy was a Korean Veteran where he started his military career of 43 years. He served in the 31st Dixie Division, Company L200th Infantry and HHD 731st Maintenance Battalion, Tallassee, Alabama. He achieved the highest enlisted rank of Command Sergeant Major and Chief Warrant Officer CW4. Buddy would say one of his greatest accomplishments was enlisting so many young men and women into the Alabama National Guard and seeing them advance through the ranks. He touched so many lives through his 43 years of service. He was also so very proud of his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to brag on them all. Buddy was a member of East Tallassee Church of Christ for 40 plus years and a member of Macedonia Christian Church the last few years. He was a member of the Tallassee Civitan Club for many years. He also was an active Mason for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family would like for you to consider donations to the Tallapoosa County Boys and Girls Ranch or Wounded Warriors in Buddy’s name. They would also like to thank the staff of The Gardens of Wetumpka where Buddy spent his last few months. They all were so wonderful and attentive to him. Honorary pallbearers will be Members and former Members of: 31st Dixie Division, Company L200th Infantry Battalion and HHD 731st Maintenance Battalion.
