Melton, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the age of 84.Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at 10:00am from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.Mr. Melton is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Melton; daughters, Linda Watts, Cathy Jones and Angela Melton; son, Stephen Melton (Wendy); grandchildren, Madison Melton, Amy Christiansen, Amanda Champion, Todd Watts and Chris Jones; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Nell Mitchell; nephew, Danny Mitchell and niece, Peggy Nelms.Mr. Melton was a member, deacon and Sunday School teacher of East Tallassee Baptist Church. Mr. Melton also served in WWII and the Korean Conflict and was employed with Independent Life Insurance Company for over 30 years.The family will receive friends on Monday, May 30, 2011, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home.
