Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mr. Dale Clayton, a resident of Dadeville, Alabama, and formerly of Opelika, Alabama, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the age of 75 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Monday, December 12, 2011, at 11:00am from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. Mr. Clayton was born in Tallassee, Alabama, October 04, 1936, to Jesse William and Lovie Ingram Clayton. He grew up in Tallassee and in Pepperell Village in Opelika. He later graduated from Reeltown High School where he enjoyed participating on the football team, and then continued his education, graduating from Auburn University. Mr. Clayton was a member of the Alabama National Guard and enjoyed sports, coaching Little League Baseball during the 1970’s and 1980’s. He retired from Uniroyal-Goodrich of Opelika after 27 years of service. He also enjoyed get-togethers with friends and schoolmates, gardening and fishing, and truly loved his family and his dog, Firecracker. Mr. Clayton is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sheila Fuller Clayton; daughter, Janna Stover (Larry) and son, Joey Clayton (Dian); grandchildren, Austin Richards, Liana Clayton and Tommy Clayton; sisters, Dixie Robertson and Dorthy Shaw and many other caring family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jesse Clayton, Jr. The family will receive friends Monday, December 12, 2011, from 9:30am until service time at Jeffcoat Funeral Home. The family also wishes to thank Mr. Clayton’s physicians, EAMC staff, Advantage Hospice and Bethany House of Opelika, Alabama.
