Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mr. Clyde Columbus “Granddaddy” Dicks, Sr., 74, died Monday, October 12, 2015, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, following a brief illness. Graveside services will be Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Cubahatchie Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Floyd Noble officiating, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Sara Ruth (Tillery) Dicks; his sons, Arnold William Dicks (Donna), Clyde Columbus Dicks, Jr. (Dee) and Frank Lamar Dicks (Monica); four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; five great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers, Richard Earl Dicks (Jimmie), Slim Dicks, Bennie Jack Dicks (Jimmie), Nolan Lamar Dicks, Jr. (Elaine) and his sisters, Betty Joyce Andrews, Alice Fay McNeill (Don) and Vickey Jo Durden. Also to cherish his memory are numerous nieces, nephews and many great friends. Clyde Columbus Dicks, Sr. is preceded in death by his parents, Nolan Lamar Dicks, Sr. and Mildred Money Dicks; sister, Hazel Louise Knighten and granddaughters, Courtney Renee Dicks and Hannah Claire Dicks. He was affectionately known as Granddaddy, and he was the best granddaddy to all who knew him. He would also answer to Goat Dicks, a childhood nickname that stuck with him for all of his days. Granddaddy was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish. He excelled at training bird dogs and could always be found on his mule with a bird dog in training. It goes without saying that if Granddaddy wasn’t fishing, he was training a bird dog for the field trials. In his lifetime, he made lots of great friends; was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
