Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mr. Carl Wayne Mullins, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away September 16, 2017 at the age of 59. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 11:00AM from the First Baptist Church of Tallassee with Rev. Derek Gentle officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. He is survived by his uncle, George Mullins (Myra) and numerous cousins and many close friends who loved him dearly. Carl Wayne, or “CW” as he was commonly known, was a graduate of Tallassee High School in 1978. He went to work at THS after graduation and retired in 2001 with his longtime friend, James Bush. The two were inseparable although Bush is an Auburn Tiger fan and Carl was devoted to the Alabama Crimson Tide. CW was an avid supporter of his alma mater as well. He attended numerous Tigers’ sporting events through the years. In addition, he worked with WTLS radio as a contributor on its broadcasts, uttering the popular “deuces are wild” phrase for Tallassee baseball games. Carl, like his brother Earl before him, was also a host on WTLS’ morning show. Carl was regularly seen about the town, quite often with his “Breakfast Bunch” friends at McDonalds. He never met a stranger and was friendly with all he encountered. CW was true to his faith as well, attending regular services and bible study meetings at First Baptist Church in Tallassee. An icon in Tallassee and a friend to all, Carl Wayne was truly “Tallassee’s Favorite Son.” He will be greatly missed by so many that knew him and cherished his infectious personality. Carl Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Arlene Mullins, his brother Earl Mullins and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 21, 2017, from 9:00AM until service time at First Baptist Church of Tallassee.
