Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Mr. Bennie George Little, Sr., a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 06, 2014, at the age of 97. Funeral services will be Friday, August 08, 2014 at 2:00pm from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Bentley officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. Mr. Little is survived by his wife of 16 years, Mrs. Ardell Adams Burton Little; son, Bennie George Little, Jr. (Peggy); step-daughters, Vanessa Burton Rogers (Mike), Leah Burton Stonum and Marilyn Burton Fisher (Sam); granddaughter, Brooke Little, step grandchildren; John Dunson, Rachel Fournier, Roxanne Albers (Oliver), Wesley Rogers, Ben Fisher, Jacob Fisher and great grandchild Barrett Purohit. Mr. Little is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lorene Stalnaker Little; parents, George Wesley and Jeanette Hawkins Little; five brothers, Floyd, James, Ralph, Marvin and Forrest Little and one sister, Jeanette Little. Mr. Little attended Troy State Teacher’s College and played college football there from 1937-1940, graduating in June, 1941. He earned a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Auburn University in 1952. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. In January 1946 he began his career with Tallassee City Schools as a shop teacher; then coach. Later he became the high school principal and ended his 36 year career as Superintendent of Tallassee City Schools. He was wonderful husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed playing golf with his many friends. His wit and great sense of humor will be remembered fondly. Memorials may be made to East Tallassee Baptist Church, Debt Retirement Fund, 314 Central Blvd., Tallassee, Alabama, 36078 or your favorite charity.
