Jeffcoat Funeral Home 255 Friendship Road Tallassee, AL 36078 Tel (334) 283-6801 Albert Bryant Duncan July 28, 1922 - February 27, 2013 Albert Bryant Duncan was born and raised in Tallassee, Alabama, and was the son of Zeffie and Lillian Duncan. He was the middle child, having two brothers and two sisters, Woodrow Duncan, W.D. Duncan and Jennie Harris (preceding him in death) and a surviving sister, Dorothy Ballentine, who resides in Jacksons Gap, Alabama. Mr. Duncan joined the United States Army on November 13, 1942, and served in combat in the Pacific Campaign assigned to the famous Americal Division mostly in Bougainville, Solomon Islands. On March 14, 1944, during the battle of Hill 260, Bougainville, at “The Million Dollar Tree,” later known as Bunker Hill, Mr. Duncan was wounded in both legs by enemy fire. After recovering from his wounds, he continued his combat tour until the end of the war. He served a total of two years, six months and sixteen days of overseas combat service before returning home on October 28, 1945. During this time, Mr. Duncan was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Duncan married Lorraine Guy on May 13, 1946, and had three children: Bryant (Laine) Duncan, Julie (Tim) Bullocks and Wanda (Mike) Berg, six grandchildren: Chris Webster, Scott Duncan, Traci Webster, Brett Britt, Jennifer Watkins and Marcus Bullocks and four great grandchildren: Cameron Hornsby, Cailyn Hornsby, Blane Duncan and Chelsey Webster, and he dearly loved them all. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan would have been married 67 years this year. Mr. Duncan spent the majority of his career as a construction superintendent in Auburn, Alabama, where he was responsible for the construction of many of the buildings which today make up Auburn University. Mr. Duncan loved children and was always willing to help anyone who asked for his help and he never expected anything in return. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Tallassee, Alabama, where he loved his Church and Sunday School Class. The family would like to extend a special Thanks to Inell Ray for her devoted caregiving. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 02, 2013, at 11:00am from First Baptist Church, Tallassee, with Rev. Derek Gentle officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends, Friday, March 01, 2013, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home, Tallassee.
