Mr. Melvin Edward “Mel” Jones, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born March 18, 1944, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, to Odie Lee and Gladys Palmer Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Brian Jones (Dana); granddaughters, Taylor Jones and Avery Jones.

He is preceded in death by his wife of thirty years, Maria Jones; his parents, Odie and Gladys Jones and granddaughter, Morgan Jones.

Mr. Jones was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He was in personnel management at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base for many years and also was an instructor at the War College there. He was a licensed electrician and a dedicated Mason. However, to Mel, his service as the farm manager for Tuskegee University was his favored position. He was a member of the Elmore County Cattlemen’s Association and the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service held at a later date.
