Mrs. Mary LeBron Haynie Girdner, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 90. She lived a life of faithful service and deep devotion to her family, her church and her community.

A graduate of Elmore County High School, Mrs. Girdner went on to major in Business at Auburn University at Montgomery. She built a distinguished working life over thirty-six years, retiring after service with the Elmore County Probate Office, Auburn at Montgomery, and the Alabama House of Representatives. Her long career reflected the diligence, reliability, and commitment that also marked every other part of her life.

Her faith was central to who she was. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church, Tallassee, the Dorcas Sunday School class and the Womens Missionary Union. She loved attending and diligently serving her church. She also served on the State Board of Missions of the Baptist State Convention.

Mrs. Girdner gave generously of herself in the organizations and causes that were also important to her. She was a member of the Azalea Garden Club, Lions Club, Jayceettes, and the Tallassee Red Hatters. For more than twenty years, she served as a board member of the Tallassee Cancer Relay for Life, and she also served as chairman of the Elmore County Mothers March of Dimes. Her willingness to work on behalf of others spoke to a life rooted in compassion and civic spirit.

She found joy in the simple and lasting blessings of life. She enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, being with her family and being a part of all of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities. Those who knew her will remember a gracious lady who delighted in the lives of those she loved and who showed up with interest, encouragement, and pride.

Mrs. Girdner is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Turner (David); granddaughters, Jennifer Woods (Bear) and Haley Daniel (Dylan). Her great-grandchildren were a special source of happiness: Winsley, Bo Winston, Windham and Winnie Jo Woods and Lock Daniel. She is also survived by her brothers, George Houston Haynie of Mt. Dora, Florida, and Riley Scott Haynie of Pikeville, Kentucky, along with several special nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory with affection.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gordon Girdner; her parents, Houston LeBron and Elizabeth Estelle Haynie; great-grandson, Samson Daniel and sisters, Judy Winn and Paulette Watson. Their memory remained part of the story of her life, and now she is reunited with those who went before her.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 2:00 PM until service time at 3:00PM at First Baptist Church, Tallassee, Rev. Derek Gentle and Dr. Trey Waldrop officiating. Interment will be Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:00AM at Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.

Mary Girdner will be remembered for her faithful heart, love of family, years of service and the quiet strength with which she lived.
