Martha Joyce Wyatt, a venerable matriarch, cherished dietician, and passionate gardener, gracefully concluded her journey on November 24, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 1, 1934, she provided a nurturing presence to all who had the privilege to know her, particularly through her extensive tenure in the Tallassee City School System as a dietician and a bus driver, where her expertise not only nourished young minds but also inspired a love for healthy living that resonated within the community for years.
Martha's spirit was as vibrant as the flowers she tended with unwavering dedication. Each spring, she transformed her garden, cultivating beauty and color, much like she nurtured the lives of her family. Her love for gardening paralleled her passion for baking; her kitchen was perpetually filled with the delightful aroma of fresh desserts, lovingly prepared for her beloved husband, James H. Wyatt, who preceded her in death after 72 cherished years together. Martha’s talent extended beyond the kitchen; she was also an accomplished seamstress, creating garments imbued with a personal touch that spoke volumes of her creativity and attentiveness.
Martha is remembered fondly by her three daughters, Linda Anderson, Sonya Benoit, and Melissa Bush, who together carried forward the warmth and kindness that she so generously imparted. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Elisha McCartha, Timothy McCartha, Brian McCartha, Joseph McCartha, Robin Crabtree (Dustin), Daniel Bush, and Meghan Bush, who each hold unique memories of laughter and love shared with their grandmother. The joy of her life is further embodied in her great-grandchildren, Jacob McCartha, Zack McCartha, Noah McCartha, and Taya Crabtree, who will forever cherish the stories and lessons Martha lovingly passed down to them.
Martha was born to Fred and Willie Bedford Dozier and is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Fred Dozier, her sister, Esther Brady, and her son-in-law, Andy Anderson. She leaves behind a vibrant tapestry of familial connections woven with her sisters, Mayomie Leverette, Alice Spano, and Connie Smith (Lonnie), along with several cherished nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, honoring the rich and impactful life of Martha Joyce Wyatt, a woman who embodied grace, love, and resilience.
