After a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Martha Jeanette Griggs Boles, 85, of Notasulga, Alabama passed away Monday, December 11, 2023 in Hartford, Alabama believing “whoever lives by believing in Jesus will never die.” (NIV John 11:25-26)
Jeanette was born January 29, 1938 to the late Jesse Griggs and Flora Manning Griggs of Liberty City community.
She graduated from Reeltown High School and later received her business degree from Massey Daughlon Business School. Jeanette retired from Auburn University at 68 years of age. Her greatest delight was serving the Lord and making sure her guests were fed.
She was a life-long member at Salem Macon Baptist Church where she met her late husband, Bobby Boles, who she was married to for 47 years. It has been said, “If the doors of the church were open, she could be found in some capacity of helping.” Jeanette was the pianist and then organist for the church for 40+ years until her life brought her to live with each of her daughters in Alabama, Louisiana and Florida.
Jeanette embarks on her heavenly journey leaving behind her six closely bonded siblings and spouses: Ann Howell Owsley, Noah J. Griggs (Susie), Bobby Eugene Griggs (Diana), Charles I. Griggs, J. Lamar Griggs (Barbara) and Bill W. Griggs (Carol).
Never forgotten by her loving three daughters and spouses: Janet Boutwell (Ray), Linda Williford (Rev. Dric) and Anita Tuong (Khanh). She inspired faith in her grandchildren Brandy Sadler (Josh), Brittney Brooks (Jonathan), Ethan Williford, Julie Williford and Grace Tuong.
She delighted her five sweet great-grandchildren; Angela Sadler, Emmalyn Brooks, Gabriel Brooks, Anabelle Sadler and Luke Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral services will be Thursday, December 14, 2023, with visitation at 10:00 AM followed by 11:00 AM service at Salem-Macon Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Carpenter and Rev. Dric Williford officiating.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations in Jeanette’s name may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association or Salem Macon Baptist Church. Donations can be made online to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Salem Macon Baptist Church at 4647 Tallapoosa Street, Notasulga, Alabama 36866.
