Mark Charles McGhee, a lifelong resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away on February 20, 2026, surrounded by the ones he loved. He was born on December 11, 1964, in Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from Tallassee High School, Class of 1983, and remained deeply rooted in the community he loved and faithfully served throughout his life.

Mark is survived by his beloved parents, Charles and Mary Allen McGhee. He was a devoted father to Jake (Bethany) McGhee, Cody McGhee, and Ivy Summer McGhee. He was lovingly known as “G-Daddy” to his grandchildren: JC, Ella Kate, Sawyer, and Shaylee. He is also survived by his sister, Miriam (Trey) Stone; his nieces and nephews, Andrew (Hallie) Stone and Mallie (Joe) Vincent; and several aunts, uncles, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Affectionately known as “GheeBo,” Mark was admired for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and servant’s heart. He was a dedicated employee at GKN, where he had worked since November of 1986, building lasting friendships and earning deep respect through decades of hard work and commitment.

An outdoorsman at heart, Mark loved creek riding, spending time at Lake Martin, and being anywhere near a body of water. Whether it was the lake, the riverbank, or a quiet stretch of creek, that was where he felt most at peace. He also cherished the simple beauty of nature. Through McGhee Lawn Service and in countless other ways, he invested in his community—always striving to make things better than he found them. Anything he touched or invested in, he improved. He was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Mark was a devoted member of Talleweka Baptist Church. His love for Jesus was evident in the way he lived—through his kindness, compassion, and service to others. His faith was not just something he spoke about, but something he walked out daily in the way he treated people and cared for his community.

While our hearts are heavy, we find peace knowing he is now whole and healed. We can picture him tinkering in Heaven, making things better even there. The Lord gained a beautiful soul, and though he will be deeply missed here, his legacy of faith, love, and generosity will live on in all who knew him.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Jeffcoat Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:00AM at Tallaweka Baptist Church, Tallassee, Alabama with Pastor Randy Bush officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Union Church at Lake Martin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tallaweka Baptist Church, 1419 Gilmer Avenue, Tallassee, Alabama 36078.

Mark’s life was defined by loyalty, hard work, devotion to family, and unwavering faith. He will be forever loved, forever remembered, and deeply missed.
