With profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence, we announce the passing of Lawton Byron Boulware, a distinguished gentleman who departed this life on March 27, 2026. Born on April 11, 1941, in the serene surroundings of Tallapoosa County, Alabama, Byron lived a life that was both rich in dedication and abundant in love.
A member of Elam Baptist Church in Tallassee, Alabama, Byron’s faith was a guiding beacon throughout his journey. His professional life was marked by faithful service to the community as he devoted many years to the United States Postal Service, from which he retired with honor. Those who knew him often reflected on his commitment and the earnest care with which he approached both his duties and his fellow man.
Byron embraced the pleasures of life with the soul of a true outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, relishing the calm and challenge of nature’s embrace. His green thumb brought beauty and tranquility to his surroundings, revealing a gentle and nurturing spirit. An ardent supporter of Alabama football, he found joy in the camaraderie and spirited competition that the game inspired. These pastimes were not mere hobbies but expressions of his zest for life and his connection to the land he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Bernice Parker Boulware, whose steadfast partnership was the cornerstone of his existence. Together they nurtured a family rich in love and accomplishment. His daughters, Brenda Boulware McCollough and her husband Mark, Diane Boulware Greenlee and her husband Mike, and his son, James Byron Boulware and his wife Karol, carry forth his legacy with pride and affection.
Byron’s heart extended to his cherished grandchildren: Jim McCollough; Amber McCollough Eastman and her husband Chad; Hayden Greenlee and his wife Crystal; Heath Greenlee and his wife Carly; Nathan James Boulware and his wife Tabitha; Andrew Miller Boulware and his wife Sarah; and Brittany Truitt. Their lives are a living testament to his love and guidance. He was equally blessed with great-grandchildren—Jimmy McCollough, Maraylee McCollough, Julee McCollough, Ellianna McCollough, Evelyn Greenlee, Hadley Greenlee, Tanslee Boulware, and Annakate Boulware—each one a sparkling gem reflecting the enduring light of his spirit.
Byron is preceded in death by his loving parents, Lawton and Clessie P. Boulware, whose legacy he carried forward with honor and grace.
There will be a graveside service for family and close friends Tuesday, March 31, 2026, beginning at 11:00AM at Carrville Cemetery, Tallassee, Alabama. Here, amid the tranquil grounds of his hometown, family and friends will gather to pay their last respects to a man whose life was a quiet yet profound chapter of devotion—to family, community, and faith.
In remembering Lawton Byron Boulware, we celebrate not merely a lifetime but a legacy characterized by love, strength, and unwavering commitment.
