Judy Ann Griggs

With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we remember the remarkable life of Judy Ann Griggs, who departed this world on August 1, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on January 6, 1952, in the gentle hills of Hollins, Alabama, Judy’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with devotion, adventure, and love—a life whose memory will be cherished for generations.

Judy’s journey began among the pines and wildflowers of Hollins, where she learned early the enduring values of family, faith, and nature. These values became the foundation upon which she built her days: generous in spirit, steadfast in compassion, and fervent in her appreciation for the little joys of life. Through every season, Judy brought a rare warmth—illuminating the lives she touched with the light of her genuine kindness and generosity.

A true daughter of Alabama, Judy treasured the outdoors. There was peace in the rhythmic cast of her fishing line and delight in the aroma of earth as she tended her garden. She took great pleasure in canning the fruits of her labor, filling her cupboards with not just preserves, but with the love and diligence she poured into every jar. Judy’s adventures extended beyond her home as she indulged a joyous sense of wanderlust with her beloved “Spider,” exploring corners near and far, always eager to see the world with a curious eye and an open heart.

Deeply grounded in faith, Judy was a dedicated member of Salem Macon Baptist Church, where the bonds of community and devotion ran as deep as her roots. She found solace and strength in worship, and joy in fellowship, nurturing friendships that grew alongside her unwavering spirituality.

Judy’s life was distinguished most by her love for those dearest to her. She was the devoted wife of Charles Griggs, their union a testament to enduring partnership and affection. As a mother, Judy’s embrace was ever-present for her daughter, Haley Brumett, and her son, Corey Jack Hardman, and Kelly, guiding each with wisdom, patience, and unconditional love. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Jared Brumett, Jessica Brumett, Autumn Harry, and Toby Hardman, each of whom carries forward her spirit of kindness and curiosity. Her great-grandchildren—Madelynn Smith, Kylo Smith, and Mackenzie Henn—were blessed to know her laughter and receive her nurturing presence, even if for a brief time.

She is preceded in death by her father, George Campbell; her mother, Dorothy Honeycutt Campbell; and her sister, Barbara Campbell. Their memories remained close to Judy’s heart, and she now rests with them in peace.

The family invites all who wish to pay their respects to join them at Salem Macon Baptist Church, 4647 Tallapoosa Street, Notasulga, AL 36866, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. under the guidance of Rev. Frank Hayes. Burial will follow at Salem Macon Baptist Cemetery. The arrangements are entrusted to Jeffcoat Funeral Home, Tallassee, Alabama.
