John Samuel Howard, affectionately known as Sammy, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Montgomery, Alabama. Born on July 31, 1952, Sammy lived a life rich with experiences and dedication to his family.

A proud graduate of John Patterson Technical College (now Trenholm State), he pursued a career as an electrician, where he showcased his skills and work ethic. In addition to his profession, Sammy proudly served as a veteran of the United States Navy, demonstrating a commitment to his country that remained a significant part of his identity.

Sammy was a beloved father to his two daughters, Megan Howard Darling and Rhela Howard, who will forever cherish the memories created with him. The bond he shared with his brother, Rodney Howard (Jeannine), reflected the enduring love of familial ties. He also valued his relationships with Lucretia Burt and her husband, Jerry, marking the importance of extended family in his life.

In his later years, Sammy found great joy in his grandchildren, Samantha Howard and Isabella Darling, and his great-grandchild, Esmeray, who lit up his life with their laughter and love. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Rhonda Black.

Sammy now joins his beloved parents, James Albert and Myrtle Inell Howard, and his sister, Diane Robinson, in eternal rest.

A graveside service honoring his life and legacy will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:00AM at Carrville Cemetery in Tallassee, Alabama. The community is invited to gather and celebrate a life that embodied love, dedication, and resilience. Sammy’s spirit will continue to inspire those he loved, reminding us all of the impact one person can have on the lives of many.
