Joel T. "Joey" Yates

Mr. Joel T. “Joey” Yates, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the age of 61. He was born December 23, 1961, in Tallassee, Alabama, to James H. “Red” and Dorothy Waites Yates.

Joey is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patty L. Yates; daughters, Kerri Kennamore (Justin) and Beverly Hill (Gary); grandchildren, Jared Hill, Natalie Pierce, Izabella Kennamore, Ava Hill and Presley Hill; niece, Ashleigh Ledbetter and nephew, Michael McDonald (Kim).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Red and Dot Yates and his sister, Candy Clark.

Joey had worked as a mechanic since he was fourteen years old and he was known by all his grandchildren as “Papa.”

The family will receive friends Monday, April 10, 2023, from 3:30PM until service time at 4:30PM at East Tallassee Methodist Church, Rev. Jay Woodall officiating.
