Ms. Jane B. Chavis, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born December 23, 1945, in Tallassee, Alabama, to William Odell and Cora L. Pearson Ballentine.

Ms. Chavis is survived by her son, Dooby Hyde (Jennifer); daughter, Tina Grant (Bubba); sisters, Francis Gantt, Judy Culpepper and Ellen Flowers; grandchildren, Deidra Hyde, Allie Hyde and Brian Grant.

She is preceded in death by parents, William and Cora Ballentine; brothers, Tunney Ballentine and Bubba Ballentine and sister, Jean Coleman.

Jane was friend, sister, Aunt Jane and Moma, but what she loved being more than anything was Granny. She meant a lot to a lot of people and the family would like everyone to know how much they appreciate and will never forget the excellent care she received from Miriam, Angelia, Shelly and everyone at Community Hospice Care. Not all angels have wings.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 30, 2024, from 1:30PM until 3:00PM at Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service at Carrville Cemetery will follow. Rev. Brandon Fomby officiating.
