Mr. James Wendell “J.W.” Wilson, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the age of 80. He was born August 30, 1943, in Highland Home, Alabama to Archie R. and Voncile Rowell Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his daughter, Lisa Wilson; his son, Alan Wilson (Mandie); grandchildren, David Pattillo, Skylar Wall, Galen Mcilwain, Kristin Martin, Bryant Wilson and Baleigh Wilson; great grandchildren, Riley Oliver, Brittani Berry, Lily Wall, Ramsey Wall and Ellie Lane Mcilwain; two nephews, Emmett Hall and David Hall and special friends, like family, Andy and Sandra Dunn.

He is preceded in death by his wife of twenty-two years, Sherrl Wilson; father and mother, Archie and Voncile Wilson; his sisters, Peggy Wilson and Diane Sexton and his favorite fur baby, Taco.

J.W. was employed with Mount Vernon Mills in Tallassee for over twenty years. He then retired from the Tallassee Police Department after twenty-four years of dedicated service. He was an avid deer hunter and a passionate Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 5, 2024 from 10:00AM until service time at 11:00AM at Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Andrew Schmitt officiating. Burial will follow in Carrville Cemetery.
