James Kenneth "Kenny" Sullivan

James Kenneth “Kenny” Sullivan, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to his heavenly home on September 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy marked by love and devotion. Born on September 11, 1958, in Tallassee, Alabama, to his parents, James Curtis and Mary Olga Sullivan, Kenny's journey was woven with the fabric of hard work and dedication. A skilled welder who devoted fifty remarkable years to his craft, he exemplified unwavering commitment, retiring only in 2021.

“Kenny,” as he was affectionately known to many, was a beacon of joy, forever the source of infectious laughter and clever dad jokes that transformed moments into cherished memories. He loved to spend time on the back forty, tending to his garden, and reveled in the delightful outings aboard his golf cart and boat. Sundays were particularly special, as he took leisurely cruises in his treasured old truck, “The White Horse,” accompanied by Sheri Sullivan, his devoted wife of 47 years. Together, they forged a bond that was a testament to love and companionship.

The pride of Kenny’s life extended beyond his impressive career and cherished hobbies; it was rooted deeply in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheri, his son, Jason Sullivan (Naomi), and his beautiful granddaughters, Natalie and Chesney Sullivan, who brought immeasurable joy into his life. Kenny was also the proud son of Mary Olga Sullivan and a dear brother to his siblings, Kathy Ruff (Mike), Keith Sullivan (Cindy), Karen Nelson (Charlie), Kim Holmes (Wayne) and Kelly Sullivan (Beth). The warmth of family was a cornerstone of Kenny’s life, and he cherished the many nieces and nephews who filled it with laughter.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Curtis Sullivan, his mother-in-law, Margaret Cullars, and his nephew, Charlie Nelson. Their memories remain with us, woven into the narrative of a life well-lived.

On March 29, 2024, Kenny experienced the transformative joy of faith when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. His baptism on April 7, 2024, officiated by Rev. George Smith, marked a profound moment of spiritual fulfillment that brought solace to his soul and those who loved him. “We are thankful that he is in Heaven walking the streets of gold with no more pain or sickness.”

The family will receive friends Friday, September 26, 2025, from 2:00PM until time of service at 3:00PM at Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Salem-Macon Baptist Church Cemetery in Notasulga, Alabama.
