James Durrell Ledbetter

Mr. James Durell Ledbetter, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born September 26, 1936, in Dadeville, Alabama, to Tommy Sanders and Cora Brand Ledbetter.

Mr. Ledbetter is survived by his children, Ricky Ledbetter, Cheryl Harvey, Gary Ledbetter, Sheila Freeman (Jay), Celena Ledbetter and Scottie Ledbetter (Brandi); grandchildren, Crystal Stewart (Eddie), Wendi Ledbetter, Brandi Ledbetter, Miranda Nelson, Kayla Harvey, Jessica Harvey, Christina Harvey Thrash (Shawn), Meagan Ledbetter, Autumn Ledbetter, Jenna Woods, Kaytlin Williams, Blake Swindle (Megan), Zoe Swindle, Emma Swindle, Josh Ledbetter, Addison Ledbetter and Alyssa Ledbetter; great grandchildren, Kali, Parker, Bailee, Hana (Landyn), Jaylin (Hamzah), Belle, Preston, Elijah, Jaycee, Khloe, Gracie, James, Jacob and Maddie; great great grandchildren, Adalyn, Sutton, Cayson, Ren, Rein, Eli and Malakai; sister, Betty Jo Paulk and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ledbetter is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Mrs. Lillie Marie Ledbetter; his parents, Tommy and Cora Ledbetter and his siblings, Tommy Wallace Ledbetter (Hazel), Mary Louise Stearns (Lloyd), Hazel Eselle McGarr (Vernon), Howard Sanders Ledbetter (Jerry), Cleano Juanita Lumpkin (Bill) and Nettie Pearl Hadaway (Jack).

Mr. Ledbetter owned and managed J & M Plumbing Company for many years. He was an avid coin collector and immensely enjoyed deep-sea fishing. He also enjoyed Western movies and Louis L’amour books.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 10:00am until service time at 11:00am at Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Union Methodist Church At Lake Martin Cemetery.
