Patterson, a resident of Tallassee, Alabama, born May 03, 1910, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010, at the age of 100.Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 11:00am from First United Methodist Church, Tallassee, Alabama, with Rev. David Barkalow, Rev. Joe Hastings and Dr. Ed Glaize officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Jeffcoat Funeral Home.Dr. Patterson is survived by his many nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Clyde McNeal Patterson and his parents, Mr. Benjamin F. and Mrs. Ida Bell W. Patterson.Dr. Patterson graduated from the Palmer School of Chiropractic in 1946, moved to Tallassee, Alabama, and opened his chiropractic office in 1947.In September of 1949, Frances Clyde McNeal and Dr. Thomas Patterson were married at the First United Methodist Church in Tallassee. Several years later, in 1962, Dr. and Mrs. Patterson purchased the Woodall Hotel which became known as Hotel Talisi. The Pattersons owned and managed the hotel-restaurant for approximately 29 years.In 1999, the Alabama State Chiropractic Association gave Dr. Patterson its Lifetime Achievement Award.Dr. Patterson retired and closed his Tallassee Office in 2008 at the age of 98.Dr. Patterson was a member of First United Methodist Church, a choir member for more than 50 years and a faithful Mason in Tallassee.Active pallbearers will be Bill Oswalt, Steve Beasley, Michael Respess, Joe Hodges, Sean McNeal, Will McNeal, Carl McNeal and Reddock McNeal.Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Merton Robertson Sunday School Class.Dr. Patterson truly loved the people of Tallassee, Alabama.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Tallassee, Alabama, or to your favorite charity.
