Dorcas Artrice Barnes, born on November 8, 1956, in Birmingham, Alabama, peacefully departed this life on September 8, 2025. A woman of remarkable talent and dedication, Dorcas was cherished by many, particularly for her vibrant personality and her impact as an educator.

Graduating from Tuskegee University, Dorcas devoted much of her life to teaching. She brought her passion for education to students at Bishop State and Collin County Community College, as well as the Center for Career Training in Richardson, Texas. Her students adored her, drawn to her engaging teaching style and her ability to make connections with each individual.

In addition to her role as an educator, Dorcas was an active member of Living Word Christian Center in Tuskegee, Alabama.  Her faith guided her throughout her life, inspiring those around her and fostering a sense of community among her peers.

Dorcas is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Evelyn Noble and Rachel Noble. She is also survived by her siblings, Elijah Barnes and Susan Barnes, along with several nieces and nephews who fondly carry her memory forward.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Christiana Aaron Barnes, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable person she became.

In honor of her life and the joy she brought to so many, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family, friends, and community members can come together to share stories and reflect on the indelible mark Dorcas left in their hearts.
