Mr. Cary H. Reagan, Sr., a resident of Eclectic, Alabama, passed away Sunday morning in the early hours of October 29, 2023 in his home where he was cared for by his Hospice “Angels” and surrounded by his wife and son. Cary was 97. He was born in Grady, Alabama, January 9, 1926, to Onslow Meigs and Lucy Jane Hall Reagan.


Cary became a private pilot when he was nineteen years old and flew privately for 79 years. He was a WWII veteran training as an engineer and pilot on B-29 bombers. He also owned Reagan Brothers Automobile Repair Shop and Air Condition Work in Montgomery, Alabama. Mr. Reagan was a master mechanic, as well as an avid saltwater fisherman, scuba diver, beach enthusiast, cross county endurance motorcyclist, Harley Davidson rider and an avid Alabama football fan.


Mr. Reagan is survived by his wife, domestic partner, motorcycle partner, co-pilot, beach buddy and fishing buddy of forty years, Mrs. Elizabeth Doucet Reagan of Golden Meadow, LA; daughter, Gail Hartin; son and former business and avionics partner, Cary Reagan, Jr; step-son, Bruce Cope and step-daughter, Ann Gilmore; grandchildren, Tammy Holland (Thom), Tracy Kussmaul (Bryan), Virginia Mayville Carroll, Virgil Mayville and Michael Mayville; great grandchildren, Wesley Kussmaul, Jordan Kussmaul and Christopher Carroll and numerous nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Dr. Onslow Reagan of Rockford, Alabama; parents, Onslow Meigs, a school teacher and Lucy Reagan; eldest daughter, Jane Mayville; granddaughter, Melissa Mayville; four sisters and four brothers; Mrs. Dorothy Reagan, the mother of his three children and second wife, Mrs. Nell Bottomlee.


The family will receive friends Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Jeffcoat Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 2:00PM at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church & Cemetery, 13956 Butler Mill Road, Lapine, AL 36046. Wear comfortable outdoor shoes or boots.


Pallbearers will be Jim Hagan, Jr., Hunner Smith, Tommy Beck, Ethan Bruce, Jonathan Bruce and Craig Thompson.
