Carolyn Davis Gregory, born on February 5, 1937, in Tallassee, Alabama, passed away peacefully and into the arms of her Savior on July 11, 2026, leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of warmth, strength, and grace that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Carolyn was the beloved daughter of James Albert and Myrtle Maebelle Ledbetter Davis. Deeply connected to her roots in Tallassee, Carolyn cherished her early years and the close-knit bonds she shared with her family and her brother, Roger Davis.

Carolyn's journey through life was marked not only by her devotion to her family, but also by her steadfast love as a wife to her late husband, Charles F. Gregory. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, compassion, and unwavering support—a source of strength for each new generation. Carolyn’s memory will forever be treasured by her children: Dudley Gregory (Rebecca), Derona G. Wilson, Derick Gregory (Shay), and Dana G. Gunn (Stacey), who will always remember her gentle guidance, quick wit, and boundless encouragement.

As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Carolyn’s heart overflowed with pride and affection. She was blessed to witness many milestones among her grandchildren—Robin Swicord (Scott), Lance Gunn (Shelby), Kayce Chandler, Luke Gunn (Brittney), and Reagan Newman (Matthew)—and was a cherished presence in the lives of her great-grandchildren: Reid Swicord, Riley Swicord, Preston Chandler, Daisy Jelinek (Thomas), Oliver Jelinek, Bella Nonales, Penelope Nonales, Emma Nonales, Wheaton Gunn, Cooper Gunn, and Maeleigh Kate Gunn. Their fond memories of “Nana” will be carried lovingly into future generations.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Gregory; parents, James and Myrtle Davis and brother, Melvage Davis.

Carolyn's enduring spirit was matched by her consistent presence in her community and the lives of those around her. She valued faith, family, and friendship above all else and extended a sense of welcome to those who crossed her path at her beloved Beulah Baptist Church. Her kindness, resilience, and ability to offer wise counsel were hallmarks of her remarkable character.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Carolyn’s loving caregiver, Rebecca Manning as well as the staff at Camellia Place in Auburn, Alabama, and Gentiva Hospice.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 9:30AM until service time at 10:30AM at Elam Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery, Rev. Tim Davis officiating, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Beulah Baptist Church Teachers Luncheon, 5891 Lovelady Road, Dadeville, Al 36853 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.

Carolyn Davis Gregory will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though she has left this world, the lessons she taught and the love she so freely gave remain everlasting. Her family and friends will remember her as a beacon of love and steadfastness, forever grateful for the privilege of her presence in their lives.
