Mrs. Betty Clara Hathcock Huey, a resident of Prattville, Alabama, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at the age of 88. Mrs. Huey was born September 25, 1934, in Tallassee, Alabama to Dave Columbus and Nina Price Hathcock.

Mrs. Huey is survived by daughters, Linda Williams (Joe) of Tallassee, Alabama and Donna Smith (David) of Prattville, Alabama; grandchildren, Amelia Carpenter (Patrick) of Brandon, Mississippi, Benjamin Smith of Missoula, Montana and Nina Smith of Washington D.C.; great grandchildren, Joseph, Adelaide and Thomas Carpenter.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Leonard Huey; her parents and her eight older siblings, James David Hathcock, David “Ed” Hathcock, Arthur Hathcock, Calvin Hathcock, Marlin Hathcock, Charles Hathcock, Frankie Ward and Bonnie Mathis.

Mrs. Huey was a 1953 graduate of Tallassee High School. After her marriage to the love of her life, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and being a wife and mother. She supported her husband in all of his pursuits from cleaning and cooking the wild game he harvested, to assisting in the accounting of his various businesses. Betty was also the proprietor of B and B Shirt Shop in Prattville for a number of years. As a teenager, Betty became a Christian and was a charter member of Tallaweka Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, at 10:00AM with funeral at 11:00AM at Jeffcoat Funeral Home with Rev. Clint McBroom officiating. Committal service immediately following in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tallassee, Alabama. Active pallbearers will be Brent Weldon, Richard Ward, Randall Ward, David Smith, Benjamin Smith and Patrick Carpenter.

The family will accept flowers or a Memorial Donation may be made to Tallaweka Baptist Church or First United Methodist Church, both of Tallassee.
