Babette Joy Nelson, born May 2, 1965, left us on March 31, 2026. She was a cherished soul whose spirit touched many around her and whose presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Babette was an accomplished individual who earned her Associate of Science Degree from Central Alabama Community College, a testament to her dedication and love for learning. Beyond her academic achievements, Babette found great joy in the simple and beautiful pleasures of life. She was passionate about poetry and arts and crafts, expressing her creativity with remarkable talent and patience. Her fondness for cats and elephants reflected her gentle nature and love for the creature world, qualities that endeared her to everyone who shared in these interests with her.

She is survived by a loving family that reflects the warmth and generosity she embodied throughout her life. Her children, Brandon Wilson (Wenda), Kaylie Fannin (Josh), Joshua Wilson (Jess), Kimberleigh Hewitt and Josiah Gray continue to honor her memory. Babette’s spirit lives on through her sisters, Bunny Rice and Tammy Fisher, as well as her special friend, Carla Bolden, who provided companionship and support. Her legacy is further carried forward by her grandchildren: Korbin Wilson, Hayden Wilson, Landon Wilson, Harper Luttrell, Celestine Wilson, River Luttrell, Asher Luttrell, Joseph Luttrell, Jacob Fannin, Kaytlin Fannin, Zain Moore, Alaina Kent, Mia Moore, Mac Moore, Caroline Burton, and Kyleigh Burton. Additionally, her great-granddaughter Evangeline Wilson brings light and hope, a living symbol of Babette’s enduring influence.

Babette is preceded in death by several beloved family members, including her parents, John and Betty Hatswell Roberts; her brothers, Pat Wilson, Mike Wilson, and Terry Wilson; her sister, Bambi Wilson; and her husband, Scott Hewitt.

A Celebration of Life for Babette Nelson will be held at a later date, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather, honor her memory, and celebrate the profound impact she had on their lives.
