Mr.Floyd Eugene Burt, born July 5, 1931, died at the age of 80 on June 14, 2012, at the Tallassee Health & Rehab Facilities in Tallassee, Alabama, after a brief illness. He had been a resident at Tallassee Health & Rehab since a serious car accident in January of 2003. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 am from Jeffcoat Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Allen Ammons from the Tallassee Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
He is survived by his brother in law, Ralph “Pete” Hale; sister in law, Isabell Burt and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Gene, as he was most commonly known, is preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Sarah Mason Burt; two sisters, Nellie “Ruth” Burt Hale and Flora Burt Butler; six brothers, William Edgar Burt, Charlie Thomas Burt, Holman Burt, Robert Earl Burt, Roy Tenneson Burt and Ferrell Lee Burt.
Gene was a US Army Veteran. He worked in various administrative and clerical roles with Mount Vernon Mills, C.F. Halstead and the Aronov Group. He was a faithful member of the Tallassee Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tallassee Church of Christ on Gilmer Avenue in Tallassee, Alabama.
